DO YOU VALUE ART?

PENSIVE

As I was working on this piece the other day. I thought my person evoked an image of a person, deep in thought, on a garden porch surrounded by garden trellises.
It brought to mind an article I had read on how society in general values art. It dawned on me how little society values art. People are too busy with their busy lives.'The daily grind'. Etc.
They work and work, some working at meaningless jobs, maybe one they even hate. Most people just consider that working hard is a virtue in itsef, and it is. I'm not saying that it's not, just that work and nothing else leaves no room for creativity, innovation or free thinking of any kind this kind of 'daily grind' leaves no room for self-expression and causes people to neglect their natural talents. Most people just focus on work and never even think what their true passion is.
art is meant to challenge our brains, the way we think and feel   Art creates a response
within us. It can make us calm or energized, it evokes emotion.  Like a song can make us sad, happy or feel like dancing. Most people buy and buy, surrounding their home and their lives with things they consider useful, until one day their usefulness becomes useless. Art on the contrary can last decades, bringing meaning and joy to those who can appreciate it..
The idea that art can be valuable is foreign to most .  Complex aspects of life like emotions and creativity are not taken seriously.  The majority of people go about their day with no focus.

A very close family member of my own family said to me,  "why waste your time painting this stuff?
If it doesn't produce any money or profit!"     I find it sad. What a simplistic view of life.  If people
would only open their minds, they would realize that art is a way of capturing individuality, to explore our feelings, emotions; All that we are inside
